Barnaby Bear
Mae Ra Moe,
Thailand
In the camp, Barnaby gets up as soon as the sun rises. There is a lot of noise from cockerels and people sweeping the ground. There isn't much to eat - mostly fish paste and rice.
Barnaby goes to school. This is a bamboo hut which shades him from the sun. The children are very lucky to have a blackboard. Are you teaching the children English, Barnaby?
The camp where the children live spreads across a wide river. The bridge is a long walk so this raft is the main way to cross to the other side. Some children travel to school on the raft. They pull themselves across with a wire.
Barnaby visits a national Park in Thailand. this sign is written in the Thai language as well as English. Some caveman bones have been found here.
Deer and other wildlife can be seen here.
The children in the school enjoy playtime with Barnaby. Their day is nearly finished. Most people in the village will go to bed as the sun sets. Candles are a luxury here.
Barnaby watches the sun set. He's very tired and will soon be in bed. Barnaby's bed is a mat on the floor. If the weather is hot he may sleep outside on the verandah. A mosquito net will stop lots of bites.
On his way home to England, Barnaby visits a night market in Chiang Mai. There are lots of different stalls and shops. He buys some spicy food for tea. Barnaby likes the colourful paper lanterns.

What would Barnaby need to pack in his suitcase?
