Durham County Primary Tag Rugby Final
Lumley Junior School hosted the 2005 County Primary Tag Rugby Final on 8th July. The six winning teams from the County Tournament in October 2004 competing in the final were: Lumley Juniors; Ouston Juniors; Finchale Primary; Pelton Primary; St Cuthberts Primary, Seaham; Woodlea Primary. The teams competed in two pools and the winners of each pool, Ouston Juniors and Woodlea played against the runners up,Finchale Primary and Pelton Primary in closley fought semi finals. There was very little between the finalists, Ouston Juniors and Finchale Primary and the game had to go to extra time. Eventually Finchale Primary emerged as the 2005 County Primary Rugby Winners.
A massive well done goes out to all of the teams who took part in the final, the standard of play was nothing less than excellent.
Durham County Primary Schools Year 6 Girls Football Final
The 2005 Y6 Girls Football Final resulted in two triumphant teams, Lumley Juniors and Ouston Juniors. Both teams had been evenly matched all year and with a 0-0 draw at the end of play decided to share the title and trophy as it was felt they were both deserved.Shotton Hall Primary, St Mary Magdalene RC Primary, Chester le Street CE Juniors and Fishburn Primary were runners up in the event. Well done to all teams for getting to the final stages.
Activemark Awards May 2005
Congratulations to the following schools who have successfully been re-awarded with their Activemark and Activemark Gold Awards.

Currently, only schools who already hold the awards can re-apply when the three year period of their award is coming to its end. No further information on new applications is available at this time.
Recently Awarded Activemark Schools
Congratulations to the 22 primary schools in Durham who have been awarded with the Activemark/Activemark Gold Awards in recognition for good and excellent PE and Sport within their school.

The following schools gained Activemark status:

The following schools were awarded Activemark Gold status:

Bowes Hutchinson CE Primary, Etherley Lane Primary, Hartside Primary, Middleton in Teesdale Primary, Murton Jubilee Primary, Willington CE Primary

As a result of all the good PE and Sport practices in Durham Primary Schools, Durham LEA continues to be one of the highest achieving Activemark authorities. Well done to all schools who have gained the award over the past 4 years. The award has now been put on hold until 2006 when a new application form will be launched.
County Primary Tag Rugby Tournament 2004
The annual County Tag Rugby Tournament took place on the morning of Thursday 4th November at Maiden Castle Sports Ground. Five hundred and fifty junior school children from all over the county showed off their rugby skills in what was an excellent tournament. The winner of each of the 11 pools played in a pool play off to determine who would go through to the finals in March 2005. Finchale Primary, Lumley Juniors, Woodlea Primary, Pelton Primary, Ouston Juniors, St Cuthberts Seaham and Easington Primary schools will all go through to battle to win the County Tag Rugby Shield.
The referees of each pool were thoroughly impressed by the standard of play throughout the morning the future of rugby in Durham is definitely bright.

Y6 Girls Mini Football Final
St Patricks RC Consett, were this years winners of the Durham County Y6 Girls Mini Football Tournament. It was an exciting final with Shotton Hall Juniors coming a close second. Well done to all of the finalist schools which also include: Cockton Hill Juniors; South Hetton Primary; Ouston Juniors;and Burnopfield Primary, the standard of play from all of the teams was excellent.
